The Wild Salmon Convergence was parallel to the Salute to the Sockeye event that is being organized by the Adams River Salmon Society at Roderick Haig Brown Park.
The purpose of the event was to bring people of all cultures together to appreciate the beauty and grandeur of the Sockeye Salmon run in the Adams River, and build capacity of various Wild Salmon and Water networks and coalitions to link their campaigns, communication strategies, and organized policy/advocacy efforts to food, farming and communities impacted by mining.
The Wild Salmon need our help more than ever, and one way to do that is to appreciate their beauty, strength and resilience in their journey home to play out their birth and death in the Adams River – a river system with some of the oldest geology in BC, and rich in culture and heritage to the Secwepemc and all people who inhabit the region.
